Create and Set Up a Campaign in Visiopt
Before beginning this tutorial make sure you have set up your domain and
subdomains and your Visiopt funnel. Instructions Can be found in the Visiopt library.
We will begin setting up your campaign. Click "Campaigns"
Click "Create New Campaign"
Select one of the funnels you have already set up.
Name Your Campaign
From the dropdown choose the first page of your campaign which is usually the first page of your funnel.
Click "Next"
In Step 3 we will connect our webhooks for server-to-server conversions. Click "Connect"
Click "Add New Webhook"
You can see how to connect your specific webhook by choosing the help option.
Click Carts and Payment Processors
Click the "Shopping Carts and Payment Processors" link
Choose the cart or payment processor you are using and follow the simple
instructions provided.
Click "Next"
Next we are going to connect securely to your ad networks. Click classic and any
other ad networks you are using for this campaign.
Click "Login with Facebook" or any other network.
Choose from your accounts. Be sure to choose the proper ad account and then
click next.
Click this checkbox.
Next we will set up to view any conversion goals we want to track. You will need at least one conversion goal but here you can track any goal in your funnel.
A goal will be any conversion page added to your funnel, a button click, or a post back.
Add a checkmark next to the goal:
Select your funnel page from the drop-down list.
Name Your Goal. In the Goal Sales Column, you can set a value for a goal or leave it as zero. Remember, if a Goal Page already has a webhook associated with it then it will dynamically pass the proper sales revenue automatically.
Continue this process until you have set all the Goals you wish to track.
Only check the Exclude from top line revenue checkbox if you do not want to sales value to be added to the top line total campaign revenue.
This option allows you to track any goal you want individually without having that data added to the summary chart at the top of your campaign results page.
So as an example: If you have a confirmation page with a webhook that is tracking all revenue sales plus any upsells via a webhook but you also want to see the revenue separately for an upsell goal, you would choose to exclude that upsell goal from top-line revenue because it would improperly inflate the total campaign
revenue.
Next we have the "Include In AOV" Checkbox.
AOV is total revenue divided by the number of orders. Including or not including in AOV will not affect revenue calculations at all. This just affects the number of orders used in the AOV calculation.
For example:
If you are tracking main sales and upsell sales separately in your goals...
And you get 5 orders with 5 upsells.
If you checked off BOTH orders and upsells total revenue would be divided by 10 but that would
lead to an incorrect AOV because clearly an order with an upsell is a single order.
So if we only check off the main order than the total revenue will be divided by 5 and get you the
accurate AOV.
This option ensures you are able to customize and accurately track your data.
Next We Choose" Exclude Undefined Conversions". In most cases, you want to check this box for every one of your goals.
An Undefined conversion is a visit/conversion to one of your conversion pages that was never entered originally through your campaign landing page/test page.
Or a Webhook that is received that cannot be tied to an LP visit.
There are many reasons this can occur.
Some, but not all possible reasons are: direct visit to the page, getting to the page through a different funnel, visiting the LP on one device and converting from a different device, seeing the original page on mobile but clicking on an email in desktop and converting, etc
Or when a webhook is sent from a different funnel/site where there was no
previously collected email.
Please note: If you leave unchecked then undefined conversions will be reflected in your results but only when no behavioral filters are used or applied to your results.
It is best practice to check the exclude option here for every goal.
Your final results may look something like this:
Or this:
The purple symbol you see to the right-hand side of this image indicates that a
webhook is associated with this page.
Next we set up our conversion API. Click "Save & Continue To API Set Up"
Choose your ad network.
30 Enter your ad account ID
Enter your pixel or data source ID
32 Enter your access token
Important: If you do not know how to find or set up your account ID, pixel ID, or access token, we have a step-by-step document to walk you through this process. This can be accessed through Visiopt Help and we provide instructions to find this document at the end of the API section below.
Click this checkbox to send your campaign LP to the ad networks conversion API
as a page view.
Click "+ Add Goal" To add as many goals as you wish.
Choose your funnel page from the first dropdown.
From the second drop down choose the ad network conversion event name.
Leave this option unchecked as the best practices is for Visiopt to only send conversions identified as originating from your ad network.
Add as many events as you wish and Click "Save Campaign"
Important:
For best results when using the Facebook API we recommend that you add the Facebook Pixel exactly as shown here on your Landing Page only. Your campaign page.
Do not set up any Facebook Pixel-based conversion events inside of Facebook as this could cause Facebook to over-report.
Important Tip:
If you want to hide your Facebook Pixel from Facebook ( In situations where you are in a prohibited, high-risk industry) then add this pixel to the LP ONLY via tag manager. We recommend you use a tag manager account not associated with any current or previous Facebook account that has had disapproved ads or has been suspended.
Do not add Visiopt code to the tag manager. Add Visiopt code directly to your pages as previously instructed.
To get help setting up your conversion API, choose help.
