Overview
This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlines the steps for conducting quality control (QC) testing before launching a test in the Visiopt system. Following these steps ensures that your test runs smoothly and accurately before you start directing traffic to it.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Preview All Variables
1. Open Test in Editor
· Navigate to the test editor in Visiopt.
· Preview all your variables to ensure they appear as intended.
2. Use Magnifying Glass Icons
· Click on the magnifying glass icons to review each variable.
· Verify that each variable looks exactly how you want it to appear.
Step 2: Check All Previews
1. View Variations
· Access the testing section to see a chart of variations.
· Click on any variation (e.g., Variation 2) to preview it.
2. Identify Variables
· Variables will be outlined in pink.
· Hover over each variable to see its name (e.g., headline control, button name, subheadline).
3. Name Variables Clearly
· Ensure variables and their versions are named clearly for easy identification during testing.
Step 3: Conduct an Actual Visit and Conversion
1. Verify Test Rotation and Conversion
· Make an actual visit and complete a conversion to confirm that your test is rotating and converting correctly before sending traffic.
Step 4: Utilize Advanced Fingerprinting Technology
1. Understand Fingerprinting
· Visiopt uses advanced fingerprinting technology, making it insufficient to test using incognito or private windows alone.
2. Test Using Different Browsers
· Visit your test URL using two or three different browsers to be treated as different users.
Step 5: Enable Test Mode
1. Activate Test Mode
· Select "Test mode" from the menu.
· Ensure Test Mode is active, which disables fingerprinting technology.
2. Use Incognito Windows
· Always use incognito windows when in Test Mode.
· Close the incognito window after each test and open a new one for subsequent tests.
Step 6: Handle Cross Domain Tracking
1. Cross Domain Compliance
· Visiopt is 100% cross domain compliant, tracking seamlessly between domains and subdomains.
· Example: mypage.com and orders.mypage.com.
2. Test Mode Limitation
· Note that Test Mode does not work with cross domain tracking.
· Use different browsers for testing if your funnel includes multiple domains or subdomains.
Step 7: Perform Testing
1. Unpause the Test
· Ensure your test is not paused.
· Open a private or incognito window and enter the test URL.
2. Inspect Test Version
· Right-click, choose "Inspect Element," and click on the "Console" tab to see which test version you are on.
3. Complete Conversion
· Act as a real user, complete a conversion, and close the browser.
4. Refresh Stats
· Refresh stats after a few minutes to see updates.
· Open a new incognito window to act as additional users and see more variations.
Step 8: Finalize Testing and Reset Stats
1. Reset Stats
· Go to the menu and reset all stats after testing (note: this is a demo account step).
2. Remove Test Mode
· Ensure to remove Test Mode once testing is complete.
Step 9: Address Issues and Pause Test
1. Pause Test if Issues Arise
· If any issues occur, pause the test to direct all traffic to the control version.
· Run a series of quick quality control tests before going live.
Conclusion
By following these steps, users can perform thorough quality control testing in the Visiopt system, ensuring all variables and conversions are functioning as intended before launching the test. This process helps to avoid errors and guarantees a smooth testing experience.
