Adding Dynamic URLs in Visiopt System:
Overview
This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) provides detailed instructions on how to add dynamic URLs to your Visiopt account. Dynamic URLs contain portions that change for each visitor, and this guide will help you manage them effectively within Visiopt.
Prerequisites
1. Access to the Visiopt system.
2. The dynamic URLs you wish to add.
3. Contact information for Visiopt support.
Steps to Add Dynamic URLs
Step 1: Understand Dynamic URLs
- A dynamic URL is any URL where a certain portion changes for each visitor.
Step 2: Identify Dynamic Portions
- Example: mysite.com/thankyou/12345
- The portion 12345 is dynamic and changes with each visitor.
Step 3: Adding URLs with Dynamic Portions at the End
- If the dynamic portion is at the end of the URL:
- Simply add the URL up to the dynamic portion.
- Example: mysite.com/thankyou/
Step 4: Adding URLs with Dynamic Portions in the Middle
- Example: Shopify thank you page URL mysite.com/checkouts/order12345/thankyou
- The portion order12345 is dynamic.
- The static parts are mysite.com/checkouts and /thankyou.
Step 5: Place a Test Order
- Place an order to confirm the proper URL structure.
Step 6: Contact Visiopt Support
- Contact Visiopt support and request to shut off validation.
- Explain that you are adding a dynamic page and need validation turned off temporarily.
- This is necessary because Visiopt's validator checks for the presence of its code on the page, which is difficult with dynamic URLs.
Step 7: Add the Dynamic URL
- Add the entire URL string to Visiopt.
- Example: mysite.com/checkouts/order12345/thankyou
Step 8: Notify Support
2:30
- Inform Visiopt support after the URL has been added.
- Request to re-enable validation in your account.
Step 9: Ensure Smart Pixel Functionality
- Ensure the Visiopt smart pixel is on the thank you page and is set to fire every time an order is placed.
- This ensures proper recording even though the dynamic portion of the URL changes.
Step 10: Confirm and Test
- Validate that the dynamic URL is working correctly within Visiopt.
- Ensure conversions and other metrics are being tracked accurately.
By following these steps, you can manage dynamic URLs effectively within your Visiopt system, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
