A heat map visually tracks where visitors click making it easy to identify patterns, trends, and areas of high or low activity at a glance. Heat maps are used to track user behavior helping to optimize layout and content placement for better engagement and conversion.
Heat maps provide excellent clues as to what you may want to test next.
To create the heat map, click here on the Create a new heat map button and then enter a name for your heat map. Select the funnel you want to create the heat map in, and then finally select the page you want to create the heat map on and click save.
When heat maps are selected, you will see here the list of your already existing heat maps.
You will see the title of the heat map, the funnel name, where the page is from and the page URL where the heat map was created.
You'll see three icons here.
The first one is play or pause. If you see the play icon, it means that the heat map is paused.
If you see the paused icon, it means that the heat map is active.
You can easily click here and switch between active and paused.
The icon will always show you the current state of the heat map.
If you want to edit the heat map, click on the edit icon and edit options will appear where you can change the name of your heat map.
Once the heat map is created, you cannot change the funnel or the page.
And finally, you have the delete icon, which will of course delete the heat map if you don't want to use it anymore.
To review your heat maps, simply click on the title of the heat map, and then it'll open in a new window where you see different shades of red or bright yellow.
It means that there was a click.
Each of these will show you that there was a click.
You also have the ability to track clicks from mobile devices separately from desktop devices.
So here, we'll now switch to mobile.
And anytime you can click here, refresh stats and the heat map will update.
Also, you have the ability to filter the heat map by any date you want.
Lastly, you have the option to clear the report.
Then the heat map will be cleared and it'll start a recording from scratch, from zero clicks.
